Moving into the daily reality of photochemistry now. We will see many natural and artificial processes in the upcoming weeks and we dive a bit deeper into the photophysical mechanisms underlying these day to day events. We start of with colour and vision. Thursday a general intro, next week looking at the photochemistry and photobiology of rhodopsins that make this all possible.

Up to now we have purely looked at unimolecular photophysical processes after photoexcitation. It is time we bring in some photochemistry by looking at interactions between the excited molecule and other molecules. The slides are here:

More on fluorscence, phosphorescence, lfetimes and quantum yields.
So in Klan and wirz we finish ch2.1
In Valeur this is mainly in Ch. 3.1 and 3.2

We will continue our deeper understanding of the photophysical processes.
Especially looking at Frank Condon factors, luminescence (and some empirical rules that apply) and quantum yields.
In Klan&Wirz this is mostly described in Ch 2.1.3 and Ch 2.1.5-2.1.9
In Valeur the same is explained in 2.4 and 3.1.
